"Study hard, be at the top of your class, by all means get a bachelors degree and get a good paying job in the government, in the private sector or land a job abroad."

This is a very common dictum among parents whose aspirations in life is to provide their children with good education so that they will have a good paying job and a secure future.

In this rapid changing world, the old rule of study hard, get good grades, earn a degree land a secured job concept can do more harm than it used to be good. This old rule prepares our children to be on the safe side, never to venture into risk and make them unprepared for changes like company downsizing, retrenchments, reorganizations and the likes. This old rule prepares our children to work for money without learning how money should work for them. This old rule moulds our children to work for someone else, a perpetual dignified slave who wore a G-string tied in the neck together with coat and long sleeves, yet still a slave working for someone else.

AT 46, WHAT WILL I BE NEXT . . . If I had to do my life all over again, I will choose the UNBEATEN PATH WHERE FEW HAVE DARED TO PASS, I will NOT follow the old rule, I will play my own set of rules that will allow me to control my own destiny. Not the path of career job.
