Van for Hire
This is cool. Our province needs this service to be in place if we want to get a chunk from the multi-million dollar tourism industry.
Transportation alone, on the other hand, is not a guarantee for tourists to be attracted to our place. There has to be tourism activities around the province, lodges, rooms for rent and eateries have to be in place as well. It is not difficult if only our provincial tourism council has the vision and the skill for organization... well enough of that tourism council.
We have lots of cultural, religious and civic activities which can be packaged by our tourism council so private enterprise like the "van for rent" above, local kitchen, resorts, hotels, rooms and lodging houses will benefit from tourism. Talk about fiestas, the dinahit festival in pandan...
What about organizing our local mountaineering groups to organize say, hiking along the bato river towards kuripdas in San Miguel? And Kayaking back from Kuripdas to Bato? How about bird-watching activities... surfing in puraran... hiking along the Mayngaway river to San Isidro? How about trips to our beautiful falls? For heaven's sake there are heaps of beaches along around the island!!! And have they not seen the magnificent view in Hiyop, Pandan? What about a tribute to the gem of Lourdes mountain... the Parway falls? Have we forgotten the historical value of the Shrine in Bato? (shame the name slipped my mind).. Why can't we increase devotees to Batong Parway!!!! For heaven's sake... PROVINCIAL TOURISM COUNCIL!!! WAKE UP!!! STAND UP!!! do something!!! Anyway I feel nasasayang ang sakong tax money!!!
I tell you, if only our politicians are working FOR the people, these things do not need lots of capital than the milking projects like re-graveling and whatever Fernan-and-JOM-call-it...
Whew... meanwhile... I like the idea of the above... van for rent!

State of tourism
hi Dave ! ! of course it doesnt make sense to be kind and we must not mince words when describing those money making ventures of the Dept. of Public High Way Robberies. The regravelling project which is better known as Farm to Pocket road project is one of the money draining enterprise in our beloved island. If only those scare resources are spent in promoting tourism in Catanduanes, we can still catch up with CamSur - the newest darling of Philippine tourism. Cheers ! !
The van for hire is a good sign where in the small players from the private sector are filling up the "void" in the transport segment. Tourism will not flourish if tourist has no means of transport to reach the enchanting beauty of eastern seaboard of Viga, Gigmoto, Baras, the majestic surf of Puraran, the white water of Bato river and many more.
While it is true the present provincial administration has put Tourism as one of the spearhead of its economic program, the pace of implementation is rather slow with no tangible improvement in tourist influx so far.
Yes, they are doing their best but their best is not good enough, so goes the lyric of a song.
State of Tourism@JOM
JOM, remember the past provincial administration said the same but did quite another thing? Verceles, in fact, designated the former Vice Governor Villaluna as the head of Catanduanes Tourism Agenda! But again the lure of Farm to Pocket Road was so great that until now we have dwindling farms and no new Roads going there while Tourism was bikini summit and gay pageant!
I believe the present provincial administration is giving the same promise! However, apart from the Manila Office (that frankly disturbs me) I do not hear yet efforts to create avenues for tourism products, services and activities! I'm afraid we are putting the cart in front of the horse! While this may work, poor horse a.k.a. my tax money, may be wasted unless there are these products, activities and services to sell!!
Whew!!! I am so disturbed... Kuya Jorge!!! Fernan, wake up, I can smell smoke here and it is the smoke of my tax money burning!!!
Wake up Catanduanes!

Hi Agnes
Dai ko diretso nahulaan na ika pallan si greenroomvirac!!!
You have my high regards! I want to inform you that the Paseo Sa Isla we talked about (years ago) was realized that year and it was a big success. I believe the pictures were posted on the other site we were before.
I have the same itch you have: bring Catanduanes to the fore in tourism industry. Unfortunately we have been getting very slow support from the provincial government.
But i'm sure we will get there! Getting that business in Catanduanes is good, Agnes. I believe we can make Catanduanes a surfing ground! Please feel free to use this site towards that end!
Kumusta sa gabos and to your betterhalf and kids.
