i'm surprised to see this structure in this website. this is one of the clubhouses i designed when i was still working as an architect/interior designer for filinvest land, inc. this is the clubhouse of a farm estate we have called "nusa dua" in cavite. the architecture is a fusion of balinese (indonesian) and filipino.

i am a catandunganon, heart and soul, grew up in san andres and spent my high school in csc laboratory high school. i remember mr. dave templonuevo as a great music teacher...i love your photos of catanduanes sir!!! presently i'm doing a reasearch on the potential tourist attractions of this province and would like to help out boost our tourism industry, may i use some of the photos from your image gallery?

welcome to Cf ms.j!

welcome to CF ms.j!

if my feeling serves me right, i think i've met you in maygnaway with your parents last april sa harong ni Pay Onsoy, my father. i'm not surprised that you are the designer of this structure, your mom speaks well of you as an architect and so proud of you.

I'm glad to note that you are interested in the development of the tourism industry in Catanduanes.

catanduanes will always be in my heart!

Hey, I know your family in San Andres well! I remembered a Romano family whose children studied in CSC when their father died. Are you somehow related to them?

If it is for the good of the province, please help yourself with our photos here. Kindly just acknowledge the name of the member who posted it and catanduanes forum.

See you here more often!

very interesting...

cai's picture

this is a very interesting concept and it certainly has its own Pinoy feel. however, i have one concern...will this withstand the strong typhoon winds that usually accompany the storms we have in catanduanes?

but i must congratulate you for this bright idea, rudi-payonhon. i hope our officials who regularly visit CF would be able to pick up on your line of thinking. we certainly need to help them with inputs like this.

i definitely agree with you that villas like this would catch many foreigners attention. well done, rudi-payonhon.

Magayon na Baray

Jorge O. Macenas's picture

Cai, I fully agree. The design concept of the house is very Filipino, which resembles the old balanghay house. Dakuro pati spacious an balkon kaya mahayahay. Mas magayon kung katipay shell an wooden sliding windows.

This house looks similar to a neighbor's house in Viga. It reminds me of long time ago when as a child, we used to play in Lola Asyang old house which is similar to the one in picture. The floor was made of wide narra flitches, the posts were so big, we could not hug them, the windows were made of finely polished decorative capiz shell put over a black kamagong window frame.

Beside the old house was a Tambobong wherein Lola Asyang kept her bountiful palay harvest. Lola Asyang old house and her sturdy tambobong doubled as typhoon shelter of the entire neighborhood against the might of bagyong Harriet, Sening, Yoling and other over 200kph superhowlers.

Until now I still reminisce the memories of Lola Asyang's old house, your ancestral house in Viga. Lola Asyang is your great grandmother - God bless her soul.

old houses...

yeah...old houses are really interesting...looking at old pictures and just imagining how it would feel like to live there...hay. i have really not heard that many stories about lola asyang only that she lived simply. but i have heard a great deal about lola silay and lolo ipe through lola cion (God bless her soul). i remember one story that lola cion told me about the fire that destroyed the original house of the Usero's in Viga. apart from the house, lola cion languished over the lost furniture of lola silay...all exquisite and all became a sordid pile of ashes after the fire was contained. sayang talaga.
