Parway Falls is a triple-tiered beauty nestled inside the lush cool mountains of Tokyo, Municipality of Pandan. Trecking to the falls takes 15 relaxing minutes from the main road. The access road is a beautiful rural experience of red mud and aroma of grass mixed with the scent of wild flowers.

It is my favorite falls. I love the experience of walking towards it and be always surprised by how beautiful the falls is. I would normally spend ages just standing there stunned by its beauty before i'd scamper up and get a dip.

The falls is walled with solid rocks. The trees around offers cool shed and there's plenty of place for sitting around.

The water is cool. The upper-most deck of the falls where the highest cascade is rather deep. The second one good for children and the lowest resembles a mini olympic size pool. Perfect for kids to waddle.

Along the way are several houses which is a blend of the 1960 houses of my "nouveau riche" playmates. During my childhood days, only families with a member of the household, usually the father, or a daughter, working in manila. The house is characterised by a rectangular sitting room the other half of which is a dining room normally divided by a wooden carved divider where where the radio is prominently displayed. Well...

It would be normal to meet a man riding on a carabao's back or walk along with them to parway falls. Riding on a carabao's back is quite an experience one should not miss... and it normally is for free!

Getting there from the capital town of Virac is quite an adventure. From Virac one MUST take the 7:00 AM or 8:00 AMtrip to Pandan if he has to catch the 1:00 PM trip to Tokyo.

Being on those rural places, lodging is not so difficult to find. People along those area, well any part of Catanduanes that is, would readily offer a place for the night. They normally shun talking about the price. A hundred peso offer for an overnight stay would be a decent offer.

And oh, gin is the best drink to bring up there.

But please bring your rubbish out when you leave. My children and my grandchildren deserves its beauty too.
