Catanduanes abaca production
Catandunaes remained the country's single biggest hand-stripped abaca producer in October and in the period of January to October, based on the latest data from the Fiber Industry Development Authority (FIDA).
In October, Catandunaes produced a total of 7,401 bales and from January to October, 84,221 bales.
Hand-stripped Abaca production in the Philippines for the month of October is 24,168.20 bales of 125 kgs. while total hand-stripped abaca production the January to October is 309,232.90 bales of 125 kgs.
The five biggest producers per region in October were Eastern Visayas with 7,840 bales; the Bicol region, 7,616 bales; the Davao region, 3,676 bales; CARAGA, 2,285 bales; and Northern Mindanao, 894.5 bales.
From January to October, the largest abaca producing regions were Eastern Visayas which accounted for 107,686 bales followed by the Bicol region with 95,442 bales, Eastern Visayas with 46,663.5 bales, CARAGA with 21,402 bales, and ARMM with 15,762.4 bales.
After Catanduanes, the other biggest abaca producing provinces were Leyte with 2,901 bales in October and 47,369 bales from January to October; Northern Samar with 2,994 bales in October and 31,440 bales from January to October; Davao Oriental with 2,126.5 bales in October and 28,874 bales from January to October.
