One hour and a half's drive from Virac (along mostly unmade up road) brings you to this splendid beach. The entrance is off the road on the right through an arched gateway. Descent the hill to the bottom where there is a small area for parking.
Once a year in October the beach plays host to a serious surfing competition when expert surfers try to ride the 'Majestic' rollers found on this stretch of coast.
Puraran Beach is indeed up there with the best of any beaches in the world. However the facilities normally associated with a tourist beach are largely lacking. This in itself may hold charm for some.
