Going organic

Nota bene: I'm putting this up for the information of all CF members and the reading public. With food prices going up, we should find a way to produce with minimum expense to maximize profit and for more food on the table. Kindly encourage this and we want more articles on this as well! The recent steep increase in the price of chemical inputs especially fertilizers which is about double the price now compared to six months ago may force some of our farmers to shift to organic farming or at least minimize the use of chemical inputs. There is a need to orient our farmers on the alternatives to conventional farming the more recent ones being vermiculture or vermicomposting, use of IMO or beneficial organisms and biotechnology. Shown here are vegetables-lettuce, hot pepper, few broccoli, cabbage, alugbati, patola etc. grown the organic way in a backyard garden in our province.
