It is time to GIVE. What fitting project to give back to our dear island than to plant trees! This initiative of our Congr

essman is sheer act of love! For, whoever says I love Catanduanes, but does not think of trees is... well a big LIAR!

Trees are the lungs of the world; without them we would have no oxygen to breath. Trees also provide stability to hillsides preventing landslides. I hope therefore that hills will not be neglected in this planting initiative. Trees provide refuge for wildlife. and wood for manufacturing and fuel. They provide cooling shade on hot summer days. They soak up and store carbon too. We cannot have too many trees.
I would rather we could rely on a voluntary effort to achieve this project, but I can't imagine that it will be too expensive to implement. I would hope it is not seen as an opportunity to skim public funds for personal gain by some.
I shall be glad to plant a tree voluntarily. One thing we are not short of here is germinating seedlings.

Feedback Mechanism

A feedback is a mechanism through which one presents another view to enrich, correct and perhaps improve, or offer one view. It is an important tool through which all organisms, not excluding man, do their function and do those functions effectively that promotes not only personal but social growth as well.

The beauty of this mechanism is that it offers another view without effort to force the other to take it. It gives us another way of viewing something that enrich us. We may or may not take the view and offer why or why not we do or don't. This makes for how rational beings become intelligent because of the richness of views offered by more feedbacks: more learning takes place. It is a positive tool that illicit positive response.

On the other hand, It is so easy for anyone to mistake feedback from an attack. Here let me...

Attack is a mechanism which is used to discredit a view for the purpose of supplanting it with an altogether different view. Normally makes use of accentuated arguments, sharp edged corners here and there. As the purpose is supplanting one view with another view, an attack normally uses ridicule, which really is an attack on the person rather than simply offering an alternative view.

Ridicule, sarcasm, argumentum ad hominem up to argumentum ad vaculum are techniques the person attacking may employ to discredit more the person and not the view. In an attack, you see more the persons rather than the views.

If you place these two on opposite ends of a continuum, as they really are, you will see more mechanisms in between. Some disguising as a feedback with sharp edges or an attack with feedback characteristics.

Good thing is that all of us are rational, in varried ways, but still rational. Whether explained or not, intelligent persons need no further explanation to see which one is a feedback and which is an attack... because real rational beings don't just normally rely on reason, but also the equally important "feeling": you feel it. You know it because you feel it.

Both, the feedback and the attack mechanisms have their purposes. Feedback make views clearer, richer. Attack offers a view as well but we see more the person than the view.

It may not be the motive, but with a feedback one says.... hey, that is a good view or hey, i don't think that is a good view!

In an attack we say... ay ang galing nia, of ay, pilosopo sia!

In both case, intelligent persons learn from them and see the difference.

yan paka aram ko daw, individual effort to. i think we need to text, call or inform every catandunganon that on 1.11.11 everyone who is able to, should plant trees!

What would be a beautiful place Catanduanes will be with all the trees growing proud and tall 10 years from now... think how happy kids will be if those trees are fruit bearing... not to mention the possible income it may give!

So let's call, text and make all catandunganon jump into this project.

magandang adhikain ang magtanim ng puno lalo na ang punong namumunga at magbibigay ng kabuhayan sa madlang pipol gaya ng mangga, rambutan, at iba pa.

ngunit subalit bakit datapwat di lang hanggan sa pagtatanim ang programang ito. Dapat may kaakibat ang adhikain ito ng programa at pondo sa pagaalaga hanggang sa lumaki at tuluyang mag survive ang tinanim na mga puno.

Baka hanggang tanim lang, kodakan, praise release, at pagkatapos babayu na.

uyon ako na mga kahoy na namunga... magayon yan para sa mga kabataan sa maabot na panahon... i could almost hear the joy and laughter...

on the other hand... i cannot agree that a budget is necessary in sustaining the project, as that is not only contrary... but direct contradictory to the most noble objective it promises to achieve... being responsible without monetary compensation... Baraka, you have seen how fast our tax money go to where they should not go because of unecessary budget given to projects that could have stood without it!

I would like to advocate for projects that would, at the same time, evoke the sense of responsibility among people.

...no, it does not need a budget for the honorables to corrupt!

Let nature take care of itself. Ang realidad na natural kabukiran lumalago sa natural na pamamaraan sa pamamagitan ng malusog na ecosystem lahat may ambag hayop man o mga elemento...araw, ulan, bagyo o sunog man..lahat maaring gumawa ng kagubatan kahit walang budget...huwag lang sirain at abusuhin ng mga tao ang mahalagang ecosystem. Hayaang mga ibon at hayop ang magtanim...ang hangin ang magkalat ng mga buto at binhi at ulan ang magdilig. Subalit malungkot ang nangyayari..mga hayop sa bukid na natural na nagtatanim halos wala na..sasabayan pa ng walang habas na abuso sa pagputol ng mga puno...Tama magtanim subalit kailangan matibay na batas ang kailangan para pangalagaan ang mga puno. Let the monkey just make a crap with the seeds and let nature germinates and makes it grow. What a bountiful forest with animals that make a forest grow? We are animals too. Sarap subalit ingat sa paglunok ng buto, idumi lang, itapon sa gubat nakapagtanim ka na animal. So what's the budget? Pahingi, patikim ng santol ninyo..

pero merong isang REALIDAD na dapat patayin... ang concepto na kailangan lahat ng project me katapat na budget... i remember the days when my father and I would plant trees... without budget. Our elementary class planted trees.. no budget. Tang Gorio in barrio Gumamugam, planted trees too... me budget ba?

...no! di kailangan ang budget! 5 grown trees (which we expect to be more REALLY) is good enough result of un-budgeted excellent program!

Isang bilyong puno kahoy (ayon sa speech) ang target na itanim sa 11-11-11. Halimbawa 250,000 madlang pipol ng isla ang sabay sabay na magtatanim sa araw na ito, kailangan bawat isa ay magtanim ng 4,000 puno sa isang araw. Kung bawat isang puno ay kailangan ng espayong isang metro kwadrado, kailangan isang bilyong metro kwadrado ang lupang tataniman o katumbas ng isang milyong square kilometers na lupain (tama po ba?). ang pilipinas ay meron po lamang 114ksqmi. paano kaya yun?

Hindi naman po sinabing 1 bilyon na puno ang itatanim ayon sa privilege speech... "Trying to plant THREE (3) MILLION trees by the time the 15th Congress ends in 2013 seems to be an unreachable goal. But I have demonstrated that it can be done..."

Madam, taga dagat man ay nagtatanim ng punong kahoy si baraks Oh Bumbum. Tahimik na nagtatanim, inaaruga ang binhi, at ginagawa ito HINDI para pasayahin ang sino man kundi sa sariling paraan ay maka tulong upang maibsan ang kakulangan ng puno.

By the way po, ang CF ay isang web site upang makibahagi ang bawat miyembro ng kanila kanilang saloobin at pananaw. Ito po ay nagsisilbing feedback mechanism upang malaman ang ibat ibang punto de vista. Hindi lang po ito HILIG magcomentario, at daldal ng daldal po lamang ayon po sa isang makuring gayong kurahaw.

Di po pera ang dahilan sir Dave. Huwag po kayong maghusga. Di po lahat na taga isla ay mukhang pera. Wala po ang sinumang nagmomonopolya ng malinis at parehas na pamamaraan upang mamuhay ng sapat at sagana. Isa po kayo doon at isa rin po ako at marami pa taga CF.

Ang masakit po, unang talumpati pa lang sablay na. Isang bilyong puno ang itatanim sa loob ng isang araw sa isla ng Katandungan. Nyakkk pwede ba yun at paano kaya yun? Wala sa realidad, kahit sa panaginip di kayang gawin. Imposibleng gawin ang proyektong ito.

Ang masakit po, malinaw na ginagamit na political propaganda ang proyektong ito. Pwede naman magtanim ng tahimik lang. Huwag na po yung napakaingay.

I agree with you sir dave! We can plant trees even if there's no money involved... My 1st grading period project every year to my almost 250 Araling Panlipunan students is to plant at least one fruit-bearing tree in their own backyard or "sa lati nila" and with proper documentations (at least 2 witnesses and a promise to care for the trees). We have been doing this for 5 years now. The project was dubbed as: "Puno Ko: Alay Ko sa Aking Magiging Anak at Apo".
