Hi Makbin,
I am sorry ,but I dont believe that this coconut platation was organized and in existence during the Spanish Time...when the Philippines was under Spain. There might be some info that are not correct. About 137 years old...Oh gosh this is older the Philippine Republic herself. I could not recall this piece of information in my Philippines' history class...or problably it was sleeping at "NANG LILAY's pacitan", when this was taught.

When I was still in San Carlos Seminary our class went to Sariaya Quezon and visited a private hacienda of a classmate covering more than 100 ha and was with their clan since around 1850.

I believe there were lots of landed families around those times and one of them is the owner of Villa Escudero. In fact the size of Villa Escudero is modest compared to the coconut plantation I went to in Lucban owned by a rich family since around half of the past century.

It is very possible Padre that there are still families whose ownership of their land is far longer than the age of our republic.

This info amazes me. I met some of the Escuderos here in RENO (Sparks), NV. I never heard this piece of history from them. I heard some ghost stories that hunted the masion. I am very interested about it. Anybody could suggest History books which i can read that mention the villa escudero...I want to learn more about it. I tried to research this on history.com, but i did not find more info.

I don't know, but i would think that not all landed families got to be written on history books. If ever one person is in the history books chance is that the book will not be interested in his land unless it has some historical impact.

I think what I meant there is it is totally believable that the escudero could have that BIG piece of land and that it is with their family for that LONG period of time (older than the Philippine Republic) as there are indeed landed people in some parts of our country.

hi prof dave, mas aram mo nanggid yan history nin v. escudero, ako kaya pabalik balik dyan pero hanggang lunch sana pati masakay sa balsa, twice naman ako naka loog nin museum boda nanuod nin cultural show hanggang sa nagsawa na ko. pero minsan mae lamang ako nagbasa nin history, basta ang aram ko dakurong coconut plantation na dawhang probinsya ang nakakasakop (laguna and quezon). Ang kagsadili ninyan si don arsenio escudero at ang ga manage mga bata. si conrado 'ado' escudero syang resort manager at yo babaye (limot ko na yo ngaran) sya naman ang sales and marketing manager na ang office nila asa malate harane sa vito cruz. ang villa escudero ikan na sadiling community, haros gabos na empleado nila mga anak o pamilya na nin mga dating empleado, ma fiesta ngani dyan nintong may 20, ang camera club namo sa sa mga na invite na bisita, kaya malamang na adyan na naman ako. hayaan nyo ta aaramon ko na kong pilang hectarya yan.
