Abe Concepcion flew to Los Angeles Friday night to train for his August 15 title fight against Featherweight Champion Steven Luevano to be held in Las Vegas. He was sent off at Centennial Airport by fellow Catandunganons headed by DOTC U-Sec Cesar V. Sarmiento, a big fan, supporter and patron of Abe Concepcion.

Cesar informed me over the phone that Abe's fight will be the main event with Fil-Am Champs Nonito Donaire and Brian Viloria vs Mexican boxers as undercards.

It should be recalled that Concepcion vs Luevan's fight was to be an undercard of Pacquiao-Hatton but was cancelled due to Leuvan's training-related injury.

Cesar V. Sarmiento said that it is important for Abe to win in this fight as this will be his vehicle to be known in the world boxing arena. He added that it would also be important for our island province of Catanduanes as this may be made a vehicle for visitors to know Catanduanes and eventually be a point of destination. To do this Abe offers this fight for Catanduanes via a knock-out, Cesar Sarmiento added.

To show further support, Sarmiento upgraded to business class Abe's flight seat for a more convenient Manila-Los Angeles trip.
