Governor-elect Joseph "Boboy" Cua expressed his support for the five-year Tourism Roadmap recently presented by the Catanduanes Forum (CF) and Pag-Ataman Catanduanes Inc. (PACI).

The project titled ROADMAPPING SUSTAINABLE ECOTOURISM FOR CATANDUANES (full document attached) highlighted the need for a sustainable ecotourism and what it can do to contribute to the development of the province.

The roadmap will be created by stakeholders and key tourism players along with LGUs through a Tourism Congress which is scheduled to be conducted before the year ends.

The Governor said the presentation could not have come at a better time as tourism is in his administration's agenda.

He even informed CF and PACI that a group of investors are already eyeing Catanduanes as a promising tourism destination.

Cua also bared his plans to strengthen the tourism capabilities of Twin Rock in Igang, Virac, Puraran, in Baras and Panay Island in Bagamanoc.

Meanwhile, the one hour meeting dragged into a three-hour-and-a-half discussion as the governor tackled other developmental issues his administration would give emphasis on such as public health and abaca.

However, abaca seemed to be a favorite topic of the discussion as the governor showed not only his keen interest in its development but his knowledge of its potentials and woes. ###
