POSTER MAKING CONTEST
Suhestyon ko lang tabi mga ka CF...ano daw kung mag-organize kita nin ON-THE-SPOT POSTER MAKING CONTEST sa isla w/ a theme: “CATANDUNGANS SAY NO TO MINING”. August __ , 2009
MECHANICS:
1. The contest is open to all Schools in the Island (Elementary & High School category)
2. Each School have one contestant/representative
3.Each School must pre-register (Pre-Registration Form?), until August__,2009 to: http://www.catanduanesforum.com/ (puede daw i post ta sa catanduanes tribune and Bicol Periodico ?)
4. The main theme of the contest is: “Catandungans say no to Mining.”
(puede na daw kaya ini imaging tema o igwa pang mas marinas?)
5. All poster entries must include the aforementioned theme or a creative slogan related to the above, in English.
6. The organizers(CF) will provide a drawing pad (roughly measuring 15” x 20”) for the contest. Sheets of bond paper will be provided to the contestants for sketching or drafting. All other materials must be brought by the individual contestant.
7. Materials allowed for poster-making to be brought and used by the individual contestants are:
- pencil - art paper - colored pencils
- crayons - acrylic paints
- markers - glue/paste - pastel
- ink - water color - poster color
- craypas
8. All artworks must be done only on the spot, and must be completed within the allotted time of __ hours.
9. All entries will be pre-numbered. No signatures, names, or other identifying marks should appear at either side of the material of the entry.
10. Criteria for judging shall be:
10.1 Creativity and presentation - 40%
10.2 Originality - 30%
10.3 Relevance to the theme - 30%
11. The entries shall be judged by a Board of Judges, composed of artists and experts on the environment, and health concerns,Church...etc...
12. The prizes, shall be:
First Prize – Trophy + cash prize ???
Second Prize - Trophy + cash prize ??
Third Prize - Trophy + cash prize ?
and several consolation prizes.
(So mayaman tang ka CF eskosar na tabi kamo kung ano puede nyo itabang...hehehe)
13. Winning and other entries shall be posted on provincial publication , and may be used by organizer for its continuing advocacy campaigns to cease the proposed mining in Catanduanes. (Puede ta pang ipapintura sa wall sa mga halani sa provincial road o ipagibong tarpaulin )

Sample DepEd Guideline
Essay Writing Contest
1. Essay should revolve around the theme which will be announced during the contest proper.
2. Essay shall be written in filipino, on a yellow pad paper provided by the organizer with one (1) inch margin on all sides.
3. Essay shall be written ligebly in black or blue. Pencil is not allowed.
4. Contestant is given two (2) hours to complete the essay. They will not be allowed to leave the contest once the contest has started. Minimum of 300 words & a maximum of 500 words is required.
5. Entry shall be identified through a number, pre-drawn, which will correspond to the identity of the contestant.
6. Three contestants shall be chosen as winners.
7. Criteria for judging:
Content/Relevance to the theme 40%
Unity/Organization of idea 40%
Grammar/Semantics 20%
On the Spot Poster-Making Contest
1. One (1) contestant per district shall participate in the contest.
2. Interpretation should revolve around the theme which will be announced by the organizers during the contest proper.
3. Medium for visual artistry shall be crayon or crayola to be drawn in a white cartolina to be provided by the organizers.
4. Alloted time for the contest will be two (2) hours, after which, entries shall be collected by the organizers after the duration of the contest. Contestant may submit his/her work even before the alloted duration expires.
5. Poster must carry captions or messages either in English, Filipino or Bicol.
6. Marker pen will be allowed for caption only.
7. Entry shall be identified through a number, pre-drawn, which will correspond to the identity of the contestant.
8. Criteria for judging:
Originality of ideas 40%
Relevance to the theme 40%
Visual Impact 20%
Criteria
Criteria should like below:
Creativity and presentation - 30%
Originality - 30%
Relevance to the theme - 40%
The relevance to the theme shall be the one with the highest point.

How About Essay Contest on the Pros and Cons of Mining!
Hi Everybody,
How about essay contest on the pros and cons of mining in Catanduanes? This approach is more balanced...Contestants will discuss the mining issues in the island province. Looking at all possible views: pros and cons of mining...that will be supported with facts (research.) Then, info provided will be useful for the people of Catanduanes to decide which is which.

that's good. kung kid pa ko, magjojoin ako sa contest na yan. i love writing essays. pero kaloka may mga research pang kailangan. dats ok sa college or high school category madali for them. but for elementary medyo mahirap ata at mas magastos kung supported pa ng research mabaliw baliw mga bata nun diba? naisip ko lang naman. pero it's a good idea talaga if cf comes up with an activity na magsusupport sa no mining protest natin. that way, napakikinggan din yung side ng mga youngsters, na kung baga, how they think about mining in catanduanes.

May I suggest
1. let's include college category because it will be more interesting that way.
2. should be open to everybody, so everyone gets the chance to win. the more, the merrier. consolation prizes for those who will not make it to the top ranks.
3. the registration form should be posted in this site so that contestants can easily register. regarding announcements, we can advertise with Cattribune,BPeryodiko,RN,Dzaa and Dzvc. I can give you their numbers or emails if you want. I can help you with advertisements and should i be required to travel back to the island, i'll be very much willing to. (looking for reasons to file for vacation leave, wanna go home for a while).
All the rest of the 14 attributes, evrything's fine.
looking forward to this activity. Wanna add more? how about song writing? Does it sound good to you? How abour poem writing?
Should there be an awarding ceremony, i can handle hosting, frontact bands, sound system, gym rental, intermission number, decorations. It's because I know the people (who give good deal) to contact.

my suggestions on poster making:
* the theme should be implied i.e. "Mining And Mother Nature"
* drawing pad should be cartolina paper (any color)
* we chose art rendition either by crayola or water color
* contest should be completed in three hours
