To this beautiful province of ours, I offer this poem.
May the Almighty bless its magnificent people, now and for always.
Morning Dew
The mist drops unto the lily pad,
Where minnows and tadpoles lay beneath,
The water hyacinth is now but glad.
Hurrying to the pool, it proudly struts.
And claps of thunder are suddenly afoot,
To welcome the rain that is late in coming,
From where did you meander about?
Now, all are aghast in sad refrain.
In my coming, I sate thy thirst,
Not for a day but for all time,
Didn't Mother Nature always insist?
Her domain must be afresh if not divine.
Tell me then where the cascades flow.
Where I can blend with the glow and mist,
And yonder across, where bamboos grow.
They meet the clouds in awe.
The lowly hand that breaks the earth,
Complains not of his aching back,
Wipes off his brow the trickling sweat,
He seeks the shade for an evening rest.
He desires not of an angry flood.
That wreaks havoc along its path,
The gentle rain and mist to soak the crust,
All these he needs to prepare the earth.

Regarding your comment about the poem...
junsoriao
I cannot but thank you for the kind and humbling comments.
It is with great feeling and ease to be among friends.
We haven't seen each other given the distance and space separating us, yet
it seems you are just around the neighborhood.
It is with great sadness to find out that some investors have shown interest
in mining coal in Catanduances. In my previous article, I pointed out the
potential risks associated with this initiative. And this pertains to
those unwanted changes that may be inflicted in the region.
For example, the island's coal reserves may not be sufficient to sustain
the demand in the long term. Also, continuous extraction of the reserve
may in fact contribute to polluting the environment. The air we breathe,
including the purity of the water we drink will be exposed to pollutants
such that the quality of life will suffer in more ways than one.
We have to appeal to those empowered to intervene to put
a stop to this business venture.
