Since the filing of candidacy is in full blast, I suggest that we should post qualifications and backgrounds of our local candidates for the benefit of our voters abroad and away from Catanduanes. It would be a very healthy and wonderful discussion and exchange of ideas. This could help voters to weigh-in their options, especially for those voters like me who will go back in Catanduanes only three to one day before the election to exercise suffrage. That will give us broader knowledge of who are the candidates, what have they done in their life and what are their plans to do in the future if they will be elected as public servants.
But for better and fair discussions, there must guidelines in posting comments. Mahirap kasi pag walang guidelines, baka may maglagay ng paninira without valid and credible source. What do you think administrators?
Santiago-Teves
I think Santiago deserves to have the position as Governor and Teves as vice governor. Both of them had lots of contributions in the progress of Catanduanes and in their long time leadership, it is really evident that they made a difference for Catanduanes! Like for Teves, look at Baras now. The roads are already cemented and he was able to promote tourism in Baras. In his three terms as mayor of Baras, I can really say that he had a job well done. He had lots of projects for the betterment of the town. Baras is really lucky to have him as the head of their town. I believe that he will also be able to serve his duty well as vice governor.
Candidates Qualification
By the way the qualification of the candidates in our country is very less even in presidential candidacy.
Under Article 7, Section 2 of the Philippine Constitution, in order to serve as President, one must be at least 40 years of age, a registered voter, able to read and write, a Filipino citizen by birth, and a resident of the Philippines for at least 10 years prior to election.[1].
Nakakatawa diba kung ang Security Guard nga pag mag-aaply ka mas mataas pa ang qualification kaysa Presidente.
The problem if the candidate is a newly politician all we have to do is to accept the truth called ''trial & error". The only candidate has a 10 years or more in service is called TRAPO or Traditional Politician which is very common practiced in our country. We are able to review their background but upon elected we are all clueless even the candidate is very qualified when it comes to their tracked record or BACKGROUND.
