MANILA, Philippines—Talk of the Town is running the stand of presidential candidates on a number of issues, starting with the country’s fast-growing population, now estimated at more than 92 million.

We asked the candidates the following questions:

* Under your administration, what would be your population policy?

* Are you in favor of artificial family planning methods like pills, condoms and IUDs?

* Do you support proposals to teach sex education in all schools, public and private, starting Grade 5?

Villar still refuses to attend the Senate to face questions, and it only reminds me of how GMA used the privilege of her office to avoid questioning. What will happen if Villar wins and more corruption scandals surface?

Should the people vote for these politicians?

This is an interesting story.

Any of the named politicians familiar to anyone?

It seems that the present Mayor of my town was among those who paid a "permit to win fee" last May 2007 elections? Hmmm...interesting.

The Magdalo Group is now supporting the candidacy of Senator Villar.

In exchange for Magdalo's support, Senator Villar agreed to the following three conditions set by Magdalo Group:

* He will not enter into an alliance with President Arroyo.
* He will pursue the Magdalo advocacy on poverty alleviation, anti-corruption, peace in Mindanao, and reform and modernization of the Armed Forces.
* He will allow other detained Magdalo members to serve in government.

I have no problem with condition No. 2.

'Morong 43' appeal case before CA
Philstar.com - Thursday, March 11

MANILA, Philippines – Lawyers for the 43 health workers arrested during a raid in Morong, Rizal, today appealed the decision of the Court of Appeals (CA) dismissing a petition for habeas corpus.

Lawyer Rachel Pastores of the Public Interest Law Center filed the Notice of Appeal at the CA together with the families of the detainees. The appeal will be elevated to the Supreme Court.

Buying out fellow candidates...take two!

A few weeks ago, Former President Erap revealed that another presidential candidate thru emissaries approached him and requested him to withdraw from the race on the promise that all his expenses will be reimbursed.

Today, Senator Gordon revealed that this same presidential candidate requested him to withdraw from the race with a promise to reimburse all his expenses plus a slot in his cabinet if he wins.

Villar is a traditional politician. He is buying his way to the presidency at all cost. The most sad part of it is that he is targetting the young.

MANILA, Philippines - They may not be candidates in the May 10 elections, but presidential son Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo and Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes may end up in the House of Representatives anyway.

The two are reportedly the nominees of two party-list groups running in the upcoming polls.

Ang isi ko...ang monthly salary ng Congressman ay 35,000 lang. Ibig sabihin 2,520,000 sa 6 year term ang kikitaon ninda (na legal). Kung 2.2M sa campaign pass PA LANG, lugi ang "negosyo"!!

Saen babawion ang ginastos sa kampanya? Natural sa kurakot. E di ba parang lumalabas na kasabwat (accessory) pa ang mga NPA ng mga pulitikong corrupt? At parang lumalabas, parang sila pa ang nagtutulak sa pulitiko para mangurakot!

Satur C. Ocampo was born on April 7, 1939 in Sta. Rita, Pampanga in the Philippines to a family of landless tenant farmers. He is married to Carolina “Bobbie” Malay, a writer and professor of journalism. He has four children and two grandchildren.

He supported himself through his university education. In 1963, he worked as an economic journalist for the Manila Times until Martial Law shut down the newspaper in 1972.He was a vice-president of the National Press Club (NPC) in 1970-72.

Months ago, Bayan Muna's Satur Ocampo & Liza Maza withdrew their support for Money Villarroyo after the Nacionalista Party announced that it has reached an agreement with KBL and Bong Bong Marcos. Sa mga piga urian na buda nakaringaw na kung ano ang KBL buda sisay si Bong Marcos, here's a refresher: KBL is Kilusang Bagong Lipunan. A political party founded by no less than the deceased dictator himself, Ferdinand Marcos. Siguro man dae ko na kaipuhan sabihon dindi kung ano ang nagyari kang panahon ni Macoy? Now, who's Bong Marcos?
