MANILA, Philippines—Reports that First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo is backing another presidential candidate
forced Gilbert Teodoro Jr. to quit as chair of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD, party mates said Wednesday.

Woman: I love you, but I cannot let them know that I do. My desire is for you to succeed in your dream, as I did. I will help you achieve it on the same way that I achieved mine. But I should not be seen by them. I cannot expose myself to them. You will be scorned as I am now.

Man: You knew all along that my heart is with you. Remember the day that I have done my all to place you where you were for the last ten years. You have achieved your dream, and I did what needs to be done for myself for the last years.

DAVAO CITY—Why pay them when their friends are with us?

That, in effect, was what the Nacionalista Party (NP) standard-bearer, Sen. Manny Villar, said Tuesday as he denied television reports quoting the military as claiming he was among the politicians who had paid campaign fees to the communist New People’s Army (NPA).

'Morong 43' appeal case before CA

MANILA, Philippines – Lawyers for the 43 health workers arrested during a raid in Morong, Rizal, today appealed the decision of the Court of Appeals (CA) dismissing a petition for habeas corpus.

Lawyer Rachel Pastores of the Public Interest Law Center filed the Notice of Appeal at the CA together with the families of the detainees. The appeal will be elevated to the Supreme Court.
