"Morong 43"
Respected human rights lawyer, Romeo T. Capulong, minced no words in stating before the Court of Appeals hearing on the petition for habeas corpus of the Morong 43 that de facto martial rule was in effect vis a vis his clients.
1. Because Satur Ocampo is a good man.
He is a good man in the most essential sense: his selflessness has enabled him to live and work for the poor and the oppressed of the Philippines. He chose to forego his own wants and needs and patterned his life after the lives of great men and women. He is self-sacrificing, he is compassionate, he practices what he preaches. He lives simply. He has no measure for his own greatness as humility is ever-present in his character. He has no ambitions for himself, only for the causes he espouses and the poor whom he represents.

More than 200 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Saudi Arabia have stopped working since Saturday in protest of alleged unfair labor practices of their employer.
In a statement, migrant workers’ rights group Migrante-Middle East said the workers, composed mainly of engineers, supervisors and construction workers, have decided to stop working after their company, Al Arab Contracting Company Ltd., paid no heed to their complaints.

"The system that condemns them is the very system that breeds them"
By Renato Constantino
To respect the good faith of these advocates, the activists does not mean to agree with them. What they advocate is "a new heresy claiming new insights". We must deal with their argument on its own merits, not attempt to discredit them by invectives. To call them the enemies of democracy is to behave like the Romans who condemned the Christians as "atheists" because they worshipped in a new way.
