What are the positive and negative aspects of living in the Philippines?

The POSITIVE aspects about living in the Philippines has to be , low cost of living and cheap labor for staff and service jobs, .. warm and sunny weather most of the year, .. English language spoken and understood throughout mainly, beauty of the Philippine people and their "be happy, don't worry" way of life and the Philippine countryside/beaches itself, .. relatively low crime, high standards and low cost of medical and dental treatment.

The NEGATIVES are perhaps .. poor driving standards, and little, or no, enforcement of 'rules' and regulations, . poor 'maintenance' and low 'standards' in many cases, .. rife poverty and exploited employment with no benefits and low wages, graft and corruption still exist.

explain the negative

Wala pa rin pagbabago ang "lagay system". As a matter of fact, it got worse.

Negative explanation

Negative explanation about our country. What you see is what you say. The painful truth is we can not hide the sad state and condition of our country's economy. At the airport from the moment the aircraft starts to descend we can see the aerial view of how our beloved country looks. Most identifiable are the slums and polluted waterways and esteros. Once we touchdown is the start of our calvary and station of the cross. Need a restroom, baggage claim, immigration and custom is like negotiating the gates of hell. This is also where Lagay (tip, bribe) starts from porters to security to custom official. You have to dole out money for a stressful exit. At the roadway here comes the traffic, traffic lights not working and a lot of traffic enforcers which seem do not help but just make traffic more worst. You see them directing vehicles to pull-over or directing vehicles making a u-turn and a street with no u-turns. Street is full of people from vendors to street children asking for alms or a quick wipe to mirrors and windshield. Dadaanan mo abortion road lubak dito lubak doon. Landslide dito landslide doon. Brown-out gabi-araw kahit kaarawan ng pista.

What choice do we have?

Who hired these people to work in Custom! Who elected government official to represent your concern or are they really representing
the concern of his/her constituency! Are we paying back the money given to us during election by driving to this lubak dito lubak doon road, brown-outs and inefficiencies? By golly! even our kids are paying for it! Are we that cheap? or stupid? or talagang mahirap lang tayo sa isip at sa gawa. Siguro next opportunity, ipabatid nating na tayo'y me choice. Show our intellect, and save our Island, our belove Catanduanes.

Yes we Have a Choice

Yes we have a choice it is either leave for good or get involve. Now i am hoping that if we act just like moving a mountain starts with moving one piece of rock. A thousand of steps start with a one step. Yes we can. Yes we have a choice. A choice of good governance. Starting with our election. Yes candidates will buy the votes. It is okay for our poor folks to get the money but let us inform our voters that they choose the better candidates than the corrupt ones. Let us start with our families, our relatives, our friends in our communities. We can stop the bad culture of vote buying in our province and change it to a clean and honest election by getting involve. Let us hope and maybe if those candidates who are buying votes don't get elected and still loses they would stop buying votes. Catanduanes is counting on you and Catanduanes needs you!!! Don't leave our Beloved Catanduanes though you have a choice!!!!

tinolerant yun masamang gawain nila.

There is both bad and good

amore's picture

There is both bad and good about living in Philippines.

GOOD to be live in some part in Philippines like (catanduanes Island) - fresh fruits, fresh air, friendly people, nice beaches, paradise place, majestic falls, plenty of regional festivals (piestahan sa barangay's), all catanduanganon's are hospitable people, respectful, and resourceful, clean, tropical country,

BAD to live in Part of Philippines like (Catanduanes Island) - howling winds, typhon place, lots of crime, drugs, to many cops, NPA, militar, but it could be worse.

May your troubles be less, Your blessings be more, And nothing but happiness come through your door.
