EXCLUSIVE: FOR VIRACNONS ONLY
********************************
(The unique tongue-talk of Viracnons and how to
correctly write it.)
We VIRACNONS are so proud of our unique virac
tongue different from the other bicol dialects.
We are proud to everyday utter and talk to
the public that we are Viracnons of our own.
But when we start putting things into black and
white, meaning in writing, there is somewhere
inside our "own-dialect-watch-system" secretly telling us,,... "opps, im wiriting again my viracnon tongue
using NON-VIRACNON way of spelling the words...???
meaning "sinubri-an na pagsurat".
When you write the Viracnon's word taluk
(to plant rice) do we pronounce it really that way??
What about when we count, like (in writting) saru',
turu, Sampuru, etc. Do we speak that way?
Of course we don't, Do we? !!!
But we write things that way.
Thats has been a long-kept petty mistake of our
local way of writting and now's the time
to write it in a correct manner.
The Alphabet is a symbolic system, public
knowledge, and a written guidance
of proper reading and pronunciation of words.
Sabi ngani' kasu sakung maistra sa Pilot kaidtu:
"reading is to see the word, the word goes to the
brain, and the brain tells the tongue how it must
be uttered and properly pronounced."
Like whenever we see "ch" , we know that it is for
the words channel, chopping, charm, etc.
The Q is for quality, queue, etc.
We're knowledgeable of these things.
Now what about "hLh" ???
This is great symbolic part of our reading
and pronunciation guide too, to add to our
common stock grammar and literature
particularly for Virac-tongue talk.
To illustrate it clearly:
ENGLISH / OUR WAY / NOT OURS
to talk / pagtahlham / pagtaram,?
to plant rice / pagtahlhuk / pagtaluk, ?
Lost in direction / Nahlha-ug / Nalaug,?
Cooked rice / Mahlhutu' / Maruto,?
Sneak out away / Hlhapsut / Rapsut, ?
Cover the body with / Kuhlhumun / Kurumun,?
Fine way of doing / Sahlhama / Sarama, ?
Weak / Mahlhuya / Maluya,?
Rope / Hlhubid / Lubid, ?
and many more that we know.
We can now freely write in our own way our
local town tounge without the worry of
wrong pronunciation when we read our
own self local compositions.!!!
If the Alphabet has the "Ch" for chopper, chat, etc.
it could make way (just for Viracnons) for the "HLh"
for hlhab-as, hlhumbud, hlhangkuy, etc. too!
ITS A GOOD GREAT FEELING, I BELIEVE, BEING
SO UNLEASHED FROM THE BORROWED SPELLING-WAY
AND TO WRITE THINGS IN OUR VERY OWN THE
PROPER WAY.
Magayun baga na naitahlham mu ang tunay
mung hlha-ug kang isip buda dila' mo.
OUR OWN ORIGINAL VIRAC TONGUE!
Just like how we must write the following local
everyday phrases:
- Bahugun su kuhlhasmag.
- Kahlha-in kang panahun'.
- Musuhlhut ang panduk.
- Suhlhahan ang sumsuman.
Speak easy Write it Easy now.
So the next time you write something in
our local Virac tongue, will you write it
again in the "others" way?
or in our unique little humble hLh way?
Other parts of the world has their own way
of writting too (Polish, Slovaks, Russia, etc.)
Why can't we Viracnuns?
Its so good to be unique and proud
among the rest of the world of our
own little ways. So why not use our very
own Viracnon-writing?
The hLh Virac-only-tongue sound.
I believe this is a tiny contribution to our
Virac's own literature and grammar good
for daily communication and interaction among
common Viracnons anywhere we meet.
So,
Once and for all again:
"Sahlhung baguhlh-baguhlh na uhlhahlhut na
nagsuhlhuk-suhlhuk sa kamahlhuhlhugihan bagu
nahlha-ug sa hlhab-ugan sa tahaw ning kapahlhuyan."
I believe you still remember that classic
local tongue twister of ours, do you?
Pwede nang isurat na maayos!
That's the way it should be written!!
Its a unique only-in-Virac original tongue
way of pronunciation.!!
SahLhu', tuhLhu, wahLhu, ...SampuhLhu'.
That's the way we must correctly write it!
Like the word, "Hlhamaw" (to get up late in the morning.)
Not L, (as in Lamaw)
not LL (as in LLamaw)
not R (as in Ramaw)
not Y (as in Yamaw)
hLh gives us the FREEDOM to
write our very Only-one-in-this-
world unique tongue-talk!
The "hLh"
(Viracnons-only tounge writing.)
P.S.:
Here are other Spelling/Writing infos
for our Virac tongue too:
--------------------------------------
Use the apostrophe sign ' on the accented syllable
each time that you spell, so that the word doesn't
lose its real local meaning, like the following.
(Please notice the presence of the sign ' )
Mama' - chewing of local organic herbs.
Mama - Mother
Huba' - naked
Huba - Perhaps
Baga' - Lungs
Baga - live burning wood
Suka' - Vinegar
Suka - To vomit
HLha'hLa' - Skin's dirt
HLhahLa - venom
and more that you/we know of everyday use
among us Viracnons.
THIS IS FOR OUR OWN BENEFIT VIRACNONS ONLY.
OUR VERY OWN WAY OF WRITING OUR VIRAC-
ORIGINAL-TONGUE-SLANG.
ORIGINALITY COUNTS A LOT.
THIS IS MY HUMBLE LITERARY
CONTRIBUTION TO MY HOMETOWN VIRAC.

Further comment of my own composition re: VIRAC'S hLh
My only pure and simple
purpose of writing and
enlightening the use of
"hLh" and the sign '
is to suggest to all my fellow
Viracnuns that we have
our own way now of how
to write things our very
own way.
At long last.
A breakthrough i say
after all these years.
No other purpose
other than this.
"Makatuwang hLhamang

eman
'balus sana sa comment re: my hlh
i have made a thourough research on this for some time
before i finally published and forwarded it to my fellow
"pure" viracnuns..
noy, pag dinubli ta ang letrang "L", bagi an
na gabasa kita, in spanish grammar, like
for instance the spanish word |"Villa" (pronounced as Vilya, right?)
but in english grammar, they pronounce it as "Vila" (vila)
hLh is for hLhatu' hLhumbud, hLhukban, etc, etc...
doble L is for Fontanilla, villa, and so on and so forth...
it is pronounced as "..Lya" bakung iyu noy...?
maski ihaput mu an sa teacher mu...
if you check slovakian or polish way of writing, they have
signs and symbols that makes the pronunciation of the
word different...
and the spelling too...
like us, viracnuns (taga virac ka pahLhan eman? aku sa kulawan..)
napunu' - filled up; (pls notice the apostrophy sign at the end of the
word.
mahLhutu' - cooked rice (there the sign again..)
without it its a different bland pronunciation....
We just have to, us viracnuns, write our virac words
exactly how we say it.
simple as that.
iba man ang calolbon.
iba man ang payo.
iba man ang bato.
UNIQUE ANG VIRACNUNS!!

Virac Alphabet
I really commend the idea of burabod. Magayon! Indeed it is every Viracnon's wish, although most of us not vocal about it, na sana magkaigwa kita ning sadili tang letter para maisurat ang "salo, tulo, sampulo..etc". Masakit baga talagang i-black & white an satong dialect.
I have suggested this about 5 to 6 years ago in the now defunct (?) Catanduanes.net na magkaigwa kita nin sadili tang letter sa pagsurat ning "sahlho". Sinabi ko kaidto na pwede kitang magpa-contest (na pwedeng sponsored ning local government or maski NGO or kung sisay man na maimo sa Virac). Magimbento kita nin one (1) letter lang na bakong kapareho kang suggestion ni burabod (forgive me burabod, no offense meant) na 3 letter para madaring isurat sana. Ta medyo kumplikado baga an "HLH" ano? Magkakaigwa ning mga drop boxes sa mga public places and then at a certain date (mas magayon kung sa kapistahan nin Virac) i-open an boxes at mapili an mga judges kun arin an may pinakamagayon na character na talagang magri-represent nin HLH. Kun sisay an magana, syempre pa pepremyuhan and most of all ire-recognize na sya an nakaimbento nin letter para sa HLH. From then on, yun na ang magiging official character na gagamiton kan mga Viracnon.
Sadly, daing puminansin kan suggestion ko. Siguro tibaad ta kadaklan sa members kan Catanduanes.net ay bunor ang salita.
Dai man bagang problema kung dagdagan ta an Alphabet ta malang an Kerla (sa India) igwang 56 characters sa saindang Alphabet. Ang longest Alphabet ang Cambodia which has 74 letters.
Dakul pa an available na letters sa phoenetics (correct me if I'm wrong) alphabet para mag-resort kita sa cumbersome (again burabod, no offense meant) "HLH". Harimbawa: µ, ð, ħ, Ħ, ΐ, ξ, λ, ζ. Syempre masabi kamo na masakit ining itype sa computer kung ga-compose ka ning letter gamit ang computer. Sa heling ko bako man. Sa special characters sa excel or word...pwede mo ining i-copy. Once na nasa "clipboard" mo na ang character...everytime na kaipuhan mo ini, just click ctrl+v (CTRL+V means paste). Ang Chinese igwang 5,000 symbols (they use symbols not letters). Just imagine kung gaano kagulo ang keyboard ninda.

Bakong ahlhog sabi ko saindo (ibongnon) na dahil saiguro sabi ko ta nasakop kita ning Hapon kaya puro "R" ang tahlhamon ninyo". Tapos kaan baging natawuhan sinda ta biglang dai na maribok.

Jorge,
hi,
thank you for your sympathy of my tiny but awakening, i believe, contribution to my very own town Virac's way of writing things.
i am currently in Europe and i just suddenly realize, after
banging my ears years now of listening to this not-so-elegant
Eastern European people (mga tada' ni hitler... joke only)
na they have their very own unique way and system to
freely put in writing exactly the way they utter their words..
so, i made a thorough research on this, in so far as
viracnun tounge is concern, and i finally found
that we, viracnuns, could possibly write it via "hLh"
sound.
No need to write it the way other islanders or other town parts
do it.
well, much obliged sir.
