After the devastation brought about by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, I marveled at how the Japanese are trying to cope up with the situation as I see them on TV. In one news feature, they lined up outside a convenient store and bought what they only needed for the day. What? I thought: did I hear the reporter said it right? Then, she continued with explaining that the japs understood that since they have limited stocks (what with train lines and other modes of transportation, as well as communication lines being down preventing the prompt delivery of comodities), they take only what they need for the day so that others may also benifit from their dwindling resources. When the stocks in the store were all gone, the japs patiently formed one long line outside the store awaiting the coming of the resources promised them. In my point of view, it is different from scenes here in the Phil. I mean, forming a line to wait for the re-opening of the store. Can most of us do that minus the whining and not pleasant attitude? Sadly, I don’t think so. Well maybe if you order elementary students to do so and you look like professor Snape, without a doubt they would meekly follow in terror. But, the japs just did it like it was part of their system. And maybe they really have it in their system. I am in awe of the discipline they displayed despite the horrible condition they are presently experiencing. God bless them. God bless us. Now I’m wondering: do Filipinos lack discipline?
Yes, sad to say that
Yes, sad to say that FILIPINOS really LACKS DISCIPLINE!
