BROWNOUTS: SUMMARY, JANUARY 2010

I monitored the number of Brownouts over the month of January. I recorded the instances in the comments of another Post. I have tried to be accurate and fair in my monitoring. There may have been brownouts occurring in the small hours whilst asleep that I missed. I confess that I failed to record the exact end times of two brownouts. However the results are conservative and I believe represent a fair record of the truth.
All records are my own made in Virac. I received no reports of other brownouts on the island.

I was 1984 ng umalis ako sa baryo namin. Wala pa poste ng kuryente na nakatayo. Ang ginagamit lang namin noon ay ang mga gaserang de gaas at petromax o radius na de gaas din. Kusinilya de gaas at kahoy na galing sa bukid. After 4 years nagbakasyon ako sa atin nakita ko me mga poste at koryente na. Pero laking gulat ko minsan lang sa isang linggo magkaroon ng koryente. Bumili na sana ako ng mga gamit na de koryente pero di ko halos mapakinabangan. Balak ko sana magnegosyo ng mga isda na makukuha sa atin. Papaano naman ako makakapag ipon kung ala naman koryente sa freezer di babaho ang mga isda. Pwera na lang kung tag araw dahil pwede mong ibilad at idaing. kaya lugi ang magnenegosyo sa atin kung ang inaasahan ay koryente. Pag ganito ang mangyayari sa isla natin puro brownout ala magkakamali mag invest sa atin. Buti sana kung mura pa ang mga krudo, gas at gasolina.

haloy na akong pabalik balik digdi sa islang catanduangan dai man giraray nagbaba-go ang suplay kang elektrisidad digdio DATI SANA.kung ang iba may time pa para ma record an pag on and off kan suplay kang kuryente ako ngonyan dai na napagal na ta halos urualdaw na sana ang palsok bako sana sarong beses kundi dakolon na beses.kaya magayon man na igwa ning mga mini hydro power plant na pigaturogdok na dai na maawat ma operar na.kaya sa gabos na nagre2cord kan mga skedz kan mga brownout sa isla ta na pareho ko dati pero ngonyan dai na diit na halat2 na sana ta dai na mahaloy cguro ma bastante nman kta sa kuryente.

There were a couple of prolonged BOs in Virac this week, but I have no specific data to record.

This BO came on the morning of the anticipated tsunami. Access to radio, tv and internet to gather the latest information was not possible until power resumed.

brownouts in the province are usually because of line fault and it affects the whole island because of the absence of a recloser (a device tapped on an electric line purposely to isolate certain areas when problem arises). In the early 2000's, FICELCO bought 8 of them for the purpose, but up to now, those reclosers where not installed causing this total blockouts whenever there is problem in the line.
