The Avalanche

Dedicated to those who are about to alter the balance of nature.

The Avalanche

Deeper into the woods, I set my sight.
To that elusive beast that caught my eye;
Was it the morning breeze sweeping by?
Or were those just claps of thunder afoot?

I ran for shelter to the nearest cavern.
And built a fire to warm my weary soul;
Earth, wind, fire, and...tremor!
Unleashed from Hell like galloping steeds.

From afar, I witnessed Mother Nature at play.
Ushering slashing rains to the open plain,
To that lowly farmer, it was God sent.
The fields flooded and soft, he thanked the Lord.

That he should seek for more is but greed;
To discern and wager such are but evil thoughts;
Yearning and insisting, these he did.
Alas! The moving earth came and claimed his.
