What makes the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist credo still significant to the leaders of the Communist Party-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front? Do they really intend to achieve Karl Marx’s vision of a classless society or are they just using communist rhetoric (which has long been abandoned and consigned to the dustbin of history) to justify their criminal activities like extortion through its “revolutionary tax,” “permit to campaign” (PTC) and “permit to win” (PTW)?

MANILA, Philippines—Talk of the Town is running the stand of presidential candidates on a number of issues, starting with the country’s fast-growing population, now estimated at more than 92 million.

We asked the candidates the following questions:

* Under your administration, what would be your population policy?

* Are you in favor of artificial family planning methods like pills, condoms and IUDs?

* Do you support proposals to teach sex education in all schools, public and private, starting Grade 5?

Villar still refuses to attend the Senate to face questions, and it only reminds me of how GMA used the privilege of her office to avoid questioning. What will happen if Villar wins and more corruption scandals surface?

It seems that the present Mayor of my town was among those who paid a "permit to win fee" last May 2007 elections? Hmmm...interesting.

The Magdalo Group is now supporting the candidacy of Senator Villar.

In exchange for Magdalo's support, Senator Villar agreed to the following three conditions set by Magdalo Group:

* He will not enter into an alliance with President Arroyo.
* He will pursue the Magdalo advocacy on poverty alleviation, anti-corruption, peace in Mindanao, and reform and modernization of the Armed Forces.
* He will allow other detained Magdalo members to serve in government.

I have no problem with condition No. 2.

For several weeks now, officials and mouthpieces of the Armed Forces of the Philippines have intensified their dirty psywar attacks against the revolutionary forces, disparaging the policy requiring political parties and candidates to observe policies and guidelines regarding the conduct of reactionary elections within areas under revolutionary jurisdiction.
